Building Our Custom Home |
| CLEAN CONSTRUCTION If you want to know the quality of house a general contractor will build, simply look at one of his homes currently under construction. And pay special attention to the trash. Chances are, if the property is regularly picked up and neat, then the craftsmanship will be good quality. A good contractor will insist on the jobsite being clean (as much as is reasonable). There are several reasons for that. A clean jobsite will reduce the amount of waste. A clean jobsite will make the building process move along better, since you don't have to walk over piles of trash. A clean jobsite will not negatively affect the neighborhood. A junky jobsite will devalue the neighborhood - and therefore your own home. A clean jobsite will mean fewer problems down the road. A common complaint with new construction is finding trash inside the walls, or air vents and digging up trash in the yard that got buried during the construction. My builder has the trash at our home site put into a bin in the yard at the end of every day and the building debris is put into one of three piles. At least once a week a company comes by with a bobcat and takes away all the debris piles and empties the trash bin. Several of our neighbors have already commented on how neat our construction has been compared with the others they have seen in the neighborhood. The builder is getting a very good reputation. **** Bobcat picking up the trash
