Building Our Custom Home

CONSTRUCTION BINDER

From the beginning of our marriage back in 1990 Athena and I would tear pages out of magazines for our "dream house" file.

On one hand, it was simply a dream as neither of us could ever expect a large inheritance or a large financial gift from our relatives. On the other hand, I always knew that God had given me the talents, abilities and determination to be successful in the business world so there was a good possibility some day I might be able to build that home for Athena and me.

So for over a decade we cut, clipped and ripped articles, photographs and brochures to place into a house folder.

Fortunately when the day actually arrived that we determined that we could and should build our dream house, much of what we wanted was in that folder. It is so much easier to show an architect or builder what you want than trying to explain it.

Once the house project was under way I took a 3 ring binder and put in dozens of plastic sheet holders to hold and organize the various items from our folder.

Additionally, I have places to put in notes, invoices, builder information and change orders so they are all in one place. Without it, I'd go absolutely crazy.
