Building Our Custom Home |
| We took an existing floor plan we found at a design center and made quite a few changes. Most of them were small, but we did turn extend the garage out 7 feet so we could have a 3 car garage and so that my office above it would be larger. We also added a small room that you enter first coming from garage with a bench, shelves coat hooks and storage so all that stuff wouldn't end up on the kitchen counter. We altered the guest bedroom and bathroom on the first level so that it would accommodate wheelchairs since we plan on living in this house forever and who knows what the future might have in store for us or our parents. The third major alteration we made to the plan was to eliminate the 2-story foyer by putting a bathroom and closets upstairs in that area instead. Personally, we felt that it would have been wasted space and would have not been energy efficient to heat and cool. If you click on the image, it will take you to a larger one.
