| MOSQUITO MAGNET We had one big hesitation when we purchased the 1.25 acres where we are building our new home. Mosquitoes!
We currently have a big mosquito problem where we live in the city and
it is a real nuisance to tell your children they can not go play outside
because you know the mosquitoes are vicious.
Fortunately, we have discovered that our property has virtually no mosquitoes. We believe that is mainly due to the healthy wildlife population of frogs, dragonflies, birds and other creatures that dine on insects. In case we do get mosquitoes at our new home, we are now well prepared. A few months ago I purchased a Mosquito Magnet machine and put it in our current fenced back yard. The Mosquito Magnet runs on propane and electricity and uses a special "lure" to attract the mosquitoes into the machine where they die of dehydration. I read numerous consumer reports and publications which compared the various mosquito control products and Mosquito Magnet won hands down. But the real test is if it works for us, not in a laboratory. The first month the results were not too good until I found out that there was a special lure for the Asian Tiger mosquito, which is the one we have. In the last three months of using it, we have probably caught a thousand or more mosquitos using the Mosquito Magnet. If you use it at the beginning of the mosquito season, it will be even more effective as it interrupts the breeding cycle of the mosquitos. Our children can now play out back without fear of them coming in with red bumps all over them. It has made our summer enjoyable again.
