You, my love, were made for storms.
Your eyes, colored like cloudy seas, Peer through darkness to compass the horizon— Your hands built of strength That manned dragon-ships on icy waves. Your hair falls, a dark bird’s wing, A flag held high though wind whips wild— Your body braced for sudden shock, A seagull flying against unfavorable winds. I have seen you before— Thunderstorm gray robs jewels from the sea Wind needles the sand and froths the waves, Birds seek branchy sanctuary One last sunray gilds a darker cloud, And there I see you… Smooth, curved, sun-silvered wings Free, wild, strong, dark, bright You floated on my tears My wish’s wind carried you away But swept you back as well… You, my love, were made for strong days; Safe harbor’s yours, once weathered the storm.
