On Tuesday, March 5 I was awaken at 6am by fire trucks in our
neighborhood. I quickly ran over to our neighbor, Dianne with her
three young boys who at this time were shocked to see the top story of
their house engulfed in flames.
Dianne had just finished going through a two year divorce and said she
was finally feeling like her family had made a fresh start in this new
place they began renting in December. She hadn't yet gotten renters
insurance.
I have set up a fund to try to help out the family get some new
clothes, bedroom furniture, a computer and perhaps some musical
instruments the boys lost. They played the drums, saxophone and
guitar and all of that was destroyed. If you would like to donate
even just a couple of dollars, our combined effort will make a huge
difference in a family that is feeling tremendous loss right now. You

Romantic Floaties

I just love little marshmallows in my hot chocolate. Athena always
adds them to my hot drink.
I decided to return the favor one night, in a highly romantic way. I
took a couple dozen miniature marshmallows and arranged them in the
shape of a solid heart on a lightly buttered plate (non-stick spray
works too). I put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds, until the
marshmallows had just begun to melt.
Next, I took out the plate and pressed the marshmallows together so
there were no gaps in the heart. Then I put the marshmallow heart in
the refrigerator to cool.
When I finished making Athena's hot chocolate, I used a spatula to
scoop the heart off the plate and I floated the heart in the cup. It
was a little thing - with big results.
