| The Romantic Tip of the Week is one of the internet's longest running and most popular newsletters. To read other issues that we have posted, click here. Romantic Tip of the Week June 17 This message will probably reach you a day earlier than usual. Athena and I are taking advantage of the midweek calm at the beautiful North Carolina beaches. Sharing the surf and sand with throngs of others isn't the most romantic. However, we will miss going beach camping with our friends Stephen & Annette McDaniel who just moved away to Chicago. I put that last sentence in because they subscribe to this list. Have a romantic week -- Michael Give the Gift that Grows and Grows It is popular to give flowers to the one you love. They're beautiful and smell nice. Then they die, turn ugly and begin to smell of some other fragrance. Maybe you should consider giving a gift that is beautiful and smells lovely and will continue to do so weeks and years later. A plant or a tree not only makes a perfect gift, it continues to delight year after year if taken care of. For an anniversary, landmark birthday or perhaps to celebrate a birth of a child, a young tree could be planted and you could watch it reach for the sky as you grow older together. Maybe you would want to carve your initials into its trunk (not too deep!) or tie some mementos tightly around the tree to be sealed in its bark after years of growth. For those other special occasions or for those who do not have a place to plant a tree, a green houseplant or a flowering one such as an african violet would bring warmth and delight to any house.
