Athena and I had a splendid time at summer camp last week.  It is an
emotional week to see kids come to camp with fear, anxiety (and
sometimes just plain anger for being made to go) and leave with beaming
smiles and tears of sadness.  We aim to make camp a life-changing
experience for these kids, but our life changes just as much seeing
them evolve as the week progresses as they are surrounded by people
who shower them with love and kindness.

There is a camp in Washington State that is in need of a male
counselor so we are packing up and heading out Thursday to go
volunteer there.

I thank all you subscribers who have purchased my ebooks because
that income allows me to not only to scholarship many kids to camp
but to also volunteer thousands of hours each year in volunteer work
putting together camps and serving at them.

CD Dates

We have done many things together on line...since we live so far
apart.  One of the most fun things was planning dates.  We'd have CD
Dates, where we would each buy the same CD and we would listen to it
together...sometimes typing out the words to the songs, sort of
singing along together...  sometimes we'd talk about the band.
Sometimes it would be far more romantic fun then playful fun.  He
would always "send his car for me"...he'd send a private room.  We'd
sometimes share the same drink...a coke or iced tea...anything to
just feel like we were together.
