~~~ From the Editor ~~~
When I received this week's tip in an email from one of my
subscribers, I knew I would have to share it. I just wish I had
thought it up myself. Quite a clever and romantic tip.
Have a thoughtful week. -- Michael
I have been asked thousands of times how I got to be so romantic.
There were some really bad marriages in my immediate family and when
I met Athena I knew that I would never want to hurt her in any way.
I just adored her and would do anything for her even if it meant
learning to be romantic. Are you the type of woman that men just
adore and never want to leave? Find out what makes an adorable
woman here: http://www.relationshipheadquarters.com/
LAST WEEK OF LOVE POEMS
As most of you know, I am running a several week contest where I
post about 20 love poems each week that have already been submitted
for the contest (not accepting any more).
Each week, you subscribers will vote on your favorite in the new
batch. At the end of the contest I will put all the weekly winners
together and you will vote for your favorite among those. That
final winner will win a $100 Barnes and Noble gift certificate.
Each week the poem winner will win a trip to the prize vault as well
as one person from all those who cast a vote in that weeks contest.
Last week, the winning poem was "Away". I have posted the last of
the poems on the love poems page (I limited it to the best 120
poems): http://www.theromantic.com/love_poems/main.htm
Please pick your favorite from among the top 20 listed.
To vote (all who vote are entered into a drawing to win a weekly
prize too), send an e-mail to: tipofweek@aol.com and put "vote" in
the subject line and in the body of the email tell me your favorite.
TheRomantic.com's ever growing PRIZE VAULT is filled with books,
Gumballs Galore
by Brooke Kenner
http://www.TheRomantic.com/
While shopping recently, I saw the cutest gumball machine on sale.
I had no real need for it, but an idea started to form in my head,
so I grabbed it. Next I bought some bags of gumballs, in as many
colors as I could find.
When I got home, I made a chart with all the colors of the gumballs
(around 30). Beside each color, I wrote an action, such as, "Stop
whatever you're doing and kiss right now" or "Rent a movie tonight
and curl up on the couch."
When my man came home, I surprised him with the gumball machine; at
first, he was confused. Sometimes he's much too practical and
wanted to know why we needed so much gum. Then I showed him the
chart I had made, and he started to smile.
I had so much fun coming up with 30 different things we could do;
more of the "commands" included: "Slow dance to the next song you
hear," "Your choice of activity tonight," "Have a 'picnic' dinner in
the living room tonight," and some racier ones like, "It's all about
you tonight" or "Go directly to the bedroom." My boyfriend loves
the anticipation of which color he'll get, and I love how quickly he
scans the chart to see what he's "won."
In addition to the little things we BOTH get each time he puts a
coin in the machine, we can save up all the change, and, when the
machine gets full, we can count up the change and have ourselves a
special treat -- ranging from getting an ice cream or going out to a
fun dinner, depending on how much change we have.
It made for a great, no-occasion surprise, and it was EXTREMELY
cheap; the gumball machine cost $2 on sale, and each package of gum
was $.97 for 50 gumballs!
