Life is a Coloring Book

For many years I have celebrated my wedding anniversary
every month. In celebration of my 75th (monthly) anniversary with
my wife, I decided to create a gift that would help us reflect back
on our first 6 and 1/4 years of marriage.

I came up with the idea of creating a coloring book her. I
took a sheet of paper and tried to write down the most significant,
memorable and happy experiences we had since we were married.
I even took out our scrap books to make sure I wasn   t missing
any major events. Once I had about 30 ideas I began sketching
them on plain white paper. I admit I am not much of an artist but
even stick figures can get an idea across.

Once I completed doodling all the scenes with pencil, I traced
over them with a black felt-tip pen and wrote what the occasion
was just in case my drawing was so bad that she wouldn   t be able
to decipher the event. I emphasized the childlike look of the book
by writing with my left hand.

Once all the sketches were complete I drew a cover and
then took them to a copy store and had all the pages duplicated
onto heavy paper and then bound. I even made an extra in case
she wanted one without coloring in it. I gave her our coloring book
along with a pack of 64 crayons. The most expensive gift in the
world could not have made her happier.
