Romantic Inns and B&B Suggestions

Michael and Athena Webb are avid travelers, having been to nearly 30 countries and writes some of his travels for the over 20 million visitors who come to this website each year.

If you are looking for a romantic hotel, Inn or Bed and Breakfast, here are three of Michael's current recommendations (they change frequently so come back often).

1. The murmur of the surf lulls you to sleep at Sea Crest by the Sea, a bed and breakfast devoted to romantic getaways on the New Jersey Shore in the historic town of Spring Lake. This luxurious Victorian estate sits ˝ block from the beach and provides guests exquisite accommodations, each with fireplace, two-person whirlpool tubs, a Hemingway Suitebottle of wine and chocolates. The inn also offers an assortment of romantic packages, including their “Romance, Romance” package, which they bill as “… the ultimate romantic experience for a very special occasion.” Included are a deluxe suite, in-room massage for two, champagne picnic for two and more. A gourmet, candlelit breakfast and afternoon tea are served to all guests.

2. Dennen's Victorian Farmhouse, situated on two acres on the California coast near the quaint town of Front of the main house Mendocino, offers an ideal romantic retreat. This bed and breakfast offers the unique option of enjoying your gourmet breakfast served to the privacy of your guest room. Various rooms feature feather beds, antique furnishings, two-person whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. Quail Cottage, secluded at the back of the property, is a perfect haven for a getaway with fully-equipped kitchen, ocean views, and great wildlife viewing: quail, deer and rabbits were spotted on a recent visit. The inn is just 2 miles south of Overlooking Buckhorn CoveMendocino, where you can find four-star restaurants, galleries and unique shops. A day trip through the Mendocino Wine Country is a must; the main wine-trail highway through the Anderson Valley is only 10 minutes away.

3. The historic Oxford Hotel provides a sophisticated hideaway in the midst of Downtown Denver’s trendy LoDo District.  This Denver landmark has been luxuriously renovated with 80 rooms and suites and offers several special packages aimed at couples, which may include sparkling wine, rose petal turndown service, spa & salon services, in-room breakfast for two, dinner for two at McCormicks Fish House and overnight valet parking.  All guests can take advantage of complimentary Cadillac car service to downtown locations.  The location is ideal for exploring LoDo, with its funky galleries and shops, award-winning restaurants, shopping along 16th Street Mall or taking in a Rockies baseball game at nearby Coors Field.
