My husband and I are on a very fixed budget.  We have 3 children and have just gotten out of the military.  Anyway, we decided that for holidays and such, that require gifts to be given, we only buy gifts for the kids.  For each other we do something that can't be bought.  Breakfast-in-bed or cleaning the kitchen are good ideas. 

In my case, I prefer to make something special.  One year I decided that I wanted to make something so that whenever we looked at it, it would remind us of being in love with each other.  I bought a cheap wood frame and some matting material. Then, I got on the computer and I typed (in a really beautiful font) the words to "our song." Finally, in one corner I inserted a picture of the two of us.  The end effect is really special and romantic!
