My husband
and I chose everything together from the vinyl to the wall
coloring, we agreed on everything. The builder's were even
impressed at how well we sat and plotted it out together in
minutes instead of days and numerous appointments like other
couple's they normally dealt with - we had a vision together.
Throughout
our home building process, we took our children for visits to
the half built home and helped them visualize playing in their
rec room and putting the clothes in their closets, etc.
We all enjoyed that so much, it made it warm and cozy even
though it was rafters and sawdust.
Then there were a few evenings that my husband I and went out for dinner without the kids and we went and visualized things ourselves, including a few steamy romps on the freshly laid carpet in numerous rooms. It is still so special to us to know that before it was our home, we claimed it! We are the only people to ever make love in this home, the only people to have seen it this bare and enjoy it that way, etc.
Lastly, as
we were nearing the end of the building of the house, my husband
and I would leave post-it love notes to find as we toured to see
things, it was so fun to realize in the near future we would be
leaving post-its often in OUR house! It was MY first house
ever, so I was very excited! :)
