The first year we were married I crocheted a Christmas stocking for my husband as well as everyone in his family. Our gift to them that year was a homemade stocking filled with goodies.

Time ran out and I was not able to make myself one; however, much to my surprise when I woke up on Christmas morning, my husband had outlined a stocking on a brown paper bag, hung it next to his and filled it. Twenty three years later I still have my "first" stocking but it has been replaced with a crocheted one.
