My husband is a soldier and sometimes has to be away for me for long periods of time.  One thing we like to do to help us feel a little closer while he is gone is, while he is packing, I send him a can of our favorite vanilla cappuccino powder and we set a certain time of the day that we will both make a cup and sit and drink it at the same time.... it's like we are having our coffee together like we do at home.
