The True Love Meaning of Easter

SYMBOLS AND SONGS

Submitted by: Sharon Fleming

Although I love to celebrate just about anything, I consider Easter to be more than bunnies and chocolate eggs and wanted to teach my kids the thrill of the resurrection and the hope that gives us. I bought 8 colored plastic eggs and place inside of each one a small symbol of an event that took place during Jesus' Passion week, a tiny scroll made of toothpicks and paper containing a reference from the Bible, and a cardboard eighth note with the name of a hymn or song we sing on that day. Each day at one of our meals one of our four kids gets to open an egg, shows us the object and tells us what to read. Then we all sing the song together.
