I met my now husband on line through a dating service...Being very careful we IM'd each other and spoke over the phone for a few months before we actually went out on our date.  He was a cautious as I was before we actually went out on our date.  He allowed me to check him out to see if he had ever been arrested, how many driving tickets he got and even volunteered to send me his credit history and Beacon Score.  He went beyond the name, rank and serial number...

 

Our first date was planned for dinner and a movie.  Due to my kids our plans had to be changed which allowed me to change the traditional dinner and a movie date.  I could not go on the date due to unforeseen car accident my son had been in.  I had to remain close by for him in case he needed me.  So...I kept my promise of dinner and a movie except put a twist on this first date.

 

Mike and I both love camping and had not been able to camp at all that year. He was working and in school and I was working 2 jobs.   We talked about how many camping trips we could take together in the future, if things worked out for us.  I kept my first date promise and invited him over for dinner and a movie. The twist was this...

 

I went to my garage and got out my camping chairs and table and set them up for the dinner.  I set up my 3 man tent and inflatable mattress, covered it with my sleeping bag and placed it in my den in front of the TV.  The movie store had the movie we both wanted to watch and I rented it.  My fireplace was set up for the most wonderful campfire ever. 

 

That evening when Mike came over for dinner and a movie, he had a wonderful surprise waiting for him.  I had turned my den into a camp sight with a warm and inviting fire in the fireplace.  I served campfire stew on the camping table with the camping chairs.  After dinner then retreated into the tent, which was facing the TV, for the movie.  I made sure that the window on the side of the fireplace was opened to view the campfire.  It was one of our most memorable and fun dates we ever had.  Of course camping would not be complete without dessert... so smores.  Each year we make this as a dating tradition in celebration of our love.
