I have said I
love you to my husband in so
many different ways, and
he's always responded by
trying to out do me! It's a
fun little 'contest' we have
ongoing.
Recently, we were snuggling
in bed, just being together,
and I traced "I Love You" on
his bare back with my finger
tip. It took him a minute
to figure it out, but he
said that it was a special
way to say that, speaking '2
languages' to him at once -
words and physical touch
which he finds so
important. As a
home-business owner and a
busy mom of 3 small
children, sometimes I forget
that my husband needs to be
touched, especially since
sometimes I am on
'touch-overload' from the
children. He found my
finger-tip I Love You to be
very special! He also said
he might have to try a
similar 'skin' technique,
but with whipped cream!
Writing I Love You on the
bathroom mirror with
dry-erase markers was a lot
of fun, too - I used several
colors and his eyes lit up
when he saw it.
Also, sending e-mails to him
at work that remind him how
much I love him, why I love
him, and that I can't wait
to see him again is
something we both enjoy. I
love to dress up the e-mails
with colorful backgrounds,
fun fonts, and little
animations. I try to be
sure that the e-mail is
tasteful and appropriate for
him to view at his office,
but I'm not afraid to use
message/phrases that only he
and I would understand or
relate to. It's so much
fun!
In turn my husband has
surprised me by coming home
with flowers in the middle
of the day, arriving on the
doorstep and saying, "I love
you!" He has traced it in
the frost on my mini-van
window, and he has changed
my screen saver without my
knowing it so that the
message scrolling across the
screen said, "I love you,
beautiful!" He has caught
me on Instant Messenger just
to say I Love You, too!
The best ways for us to say
"I Love You" - as often as
we can, in as many different
ways as we can, surprising
one another (and ourselves
sometimes)!
