PAMPERING FROM HEAD TO TOE submitted by: Richard Jon Burgener
A year into being married to my wonderful wife, she
called me from work and just cried in my ear. Her
job, which she hadn't had very long, had gone from
being the best thing she'd ever done to being the
worst job she'd ever had. I was between jobs myself
at the time and decided I'd like to do everything
for her that night to cheer her up. So I planned out
a whole evening of pampering for her.
As soon as she walked through the door, I gave her a huge hug and led her by the hand into the bedroom. I had cleaned up the room and lit candles all around the bed, on the the dressers and headboard. The lights were down low, and there was a peaceful 'Rainstorm' CD playing softly in the background. A trail of rose petals (picked from the garden) formed a little path to the bed, which was itself covered in petals. I had her take off her work clothes and lay on the bed while I went out to grab something. I came back in with two towels, warm and fresh from the dryer. I wrapped her up in the towels to relax for a moment, while I got some massage oil I had been warming in the bathroom. I proceeded to give her a full massage from her temples to her toes (which I didn't do long, 'cause she's ticklish). I'm assuming by this point she was feeling better, but the night wasn't over yet. I gently helped her up and took her into the bathroom. On her side of the mirror, I had written a poem expressing my love and gratitude for everything she has done for me. I can't remember what exactly I wrote, but I know it came from the heart. That wasn't all, though. I had filled the bathtub earlier with really hot water, so the room was still steamy (and the water still warm) at this point. The water also had rose petals and soothing bath salts in it, with lit candles around. I dimmed the lights, gave her a kiss, and left her to soak for a couple of hours. When she was finally ready to come back to bed, her depression was gone and she was relaxed. I love my wife with all my heart, and am glad I could do this for her.
