My wife had been just down and out for a couple of weeks and I tried to think of something to do for her that would make her feel better. She is a nurse at a hospital and she is on her feet all day. I got her parents to watch our kids from Saturday evening till Sunday morning. I told her not to plan anything for that night that I was going to do something for her and that's all she was told.

Earlier in the week I had called and got reservations at a hotel with a Jacuzzi. I took her to an Italian restaurant for supper. After supper we went to the hotel and I had her sit in the car for about 10 minutes. I went up to the room to get everything set up.

I brought a CD player and put a Luther Vandross CD in. Next I placed rose petals around the room. From the floor to the bed. I had also bought some cheesecake, which she loves and put it in the refrigerator. I went back to the car to get her.

Once we got to the room I had her blindfold so she couldn't see anything. I led her into the room and started the CD. I told her that the rest of the evening was for her just to relax with no worries. We laid on the bed for the whole length of the CD and just talked. I rubbed her feet and gave her a massage. She told me thank you with tears in her eyes. We later went over to the Jacuzzi and relaxed for what seemed like forever.

She said she really enjoyed it and appreciated me doing that for her. She has now planned something to the same effect for me next weekend!
