Well, I have never been known as the most romantic guy, but I have been known to do some pretty goofy things.

 

When I first started going out with Kathy, the lady who is now my wife, about 20 years ago, she was living in pretty lean circumstances.

 

On Mother's Day, I presented my then-girlfriend, at work, a single rose, in a most unusual vase.  A single roll of toilet paper.  You see, she informed me that she had run out of toilet paper at home.  Funds were scarce, and we joked about where she was going to find a few coins to buy some prior to pay day.

 

Since it was Mother's Day, her knight in shining armor rode to the rescue!  The perfect gift-giving opportunity, and a very timely gift!

 

Unfortunately, I think my presentation embarrassed her more than providing the humorous impact I intended.  She married me anyway!
