Flowers are a part of who we are!
When we were dating my boyfriend (now husband)
came by my dorm facility to pick me up to go out
for a movie. I don't remember it being a
fantastically special occasion, but when I got
to his vehicle (Jeep Cherokee), my seat was
already occupied - by a HUGE teddy bear holding
a dozen RED ROSES. It was the beginning of our
"flower" adventure.
I would get flowers for no reason in my room, on
my car, at work, in my classes, in all kinds of
situations. And normally, because we were on
college budgets, they were $0.89 carnations he
had picked up at the grocery store near campus
or wildflowers gathered 'somewhere', but there
were worth $1Million to me!
Through our almost 3-year courtship, family and
friends had obviously seen many occasions where
Jeff sent me flowers for 'no reason'. So, for
my bridal shower, the hostess arranged for every
guest who joined us to bring me a carnation and
say "Jeff asked me to give this to you." I had
FLOWERS everywhere! Very romantic, very
special!
And on our wedding day, we did not see each
other until I walked down the isle, but in my
dressing room was a single long-stemmed red rose
and a loving note from my groom. Needless to
say, I had to redo my make-up!
And having continued these 'no reason' as well
as 'special occasion' flower gifts into our
marriage, now my husband has also passed this
'gift' along to our young children. They find
flowers several times a week to give to me - and
if they don't find a flower, they color one for
me. They will also come up with great reasons to
share flowers with those around us. It's the
most awesome thing to share!
