My sweetie and I are both broke college students, he goes to a school 300 miles away so it makes it hard for us to see each other much more than once every month or so.  This year he will be home for Valentine's Day, but since neither of us has the money to do anything really special he made me promise not to buy him anything more than a card this year. 

After a lot of protesting I agreed, only because I knew he would go out and get me something that he couldn't really afford if I didn't.  So I put myself to work trying to think of a really good way to surprise him without spending a dime. 

My sweetie has this charming childlikeness about him sometimes, and one way he expresses this is by reading online comics.  His favorite comic repeats the same 6 cells every week with a different discussion topic.  It has quite a large fan base, and the owner of the sight is nice enough to display the fan art. 

It is really not that difficult to make your own fan comic and submit it, so I did a Valentine's Day themed comic with mine and my sweetheart's names in it and submitted it to be reviewed.  Much to my surprise, my comic got put up!  My sweetie saw it a bit earlier than he was supposed to, but he emailed me to tell me he was very surprised and liked it very much.
