My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years now and today was the most romantic Valentine's Days we've had together.  Neither of us have a lot of money right now being in college and all (also in a long distance relationship for 9 months out of the year this being one of them), so we got creative this year. 

I remembered you saying in one of your emails that you had gotten an oil painting done based off a photo of your children and thought that was a neat idea, however with the money I'm making now I couldn't send off for a full portrait, so I gave one of my art major friends $20 to do one for me and it turned out really well! I framed it and he LOVED it. 

He makes significantly less money than I as he has NO job (bigger class load!) and had about $10 in the bank today.  So what he did was send a hand made card and called me on my way into work (yes, I was working on Valentines Day until 2 in the morning) to play our song over the phone.  I cried because he's never thought to do anything like that before! (*wonder if he's been reading your website* :P)
